Discover the jewels of technology and performance
Honda has presented its exciting range of 2024 models at EICMA in Milan, highlighting four new models, significant updates to four others, and a conceptual vision of future electric vehicles. At the center of attention is the impressive CB1000 Hornet, the triumphant return of the CBR600RR, and the innovative technology of the Honda E-Clutch.
CB1000 Hornet
The CB1000 Hornet stands as Honda’s new naked flagship. Its four-cylinder in-line engine, a revised version of the 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade, develops more than 110 kW and more than 100 Nm of torque. Its steel twin-spar frame, combined with a 41 mm Showa SFF-BP fork and a Pro-link rear shock, promises exceptional agility and stability. The aggressive design stands out with LED twin projector headlights and the iconic Hornet fuel tank. Electronic aids include Throttle By Wire and connectivity for Android and iOS devices via Honda RoadSync.
The Hornet family is also expanded with the addition of the CB500 Hornet and the NX500. The CB500 Hornet, with its aggressive and aerodynamic style, meets the requirements for the A2 license, while the NX500, under the name ‘New X-over’, is designed to be enjoyed on a variety of terrains, from winding roads to gravel tracks.
The triumphant return of the CBR600RR: From MotoGP to the streets of Europe
After six years of absence, the CBR600RR returns to Europe in 2024 with a revised engine, cutting-edge electronics, and an aerodynamic design inspired by MotoGP. Developing 89 kW at 14,250 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 11,500 rpm, the CBR600RR stands out for its agile and lightweight chassis, thanks to its aluminum frame and high-quality components. The complete electronic package includes a six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit, Throttle By Wire, 5 riding modes, Cornering ABS, and HSTC traction control.
The new NX500, which stands for ‘New X-over’, is presented as a versatile motorcycle designed to adapt to various terrains, from winding roads to gravel tracks. With a weight reduction of 3 kilograms, a 41 mm Showa SFF-BP fork and a 5-inch TFT screen with Honda RoadSync connectivity, the NX500 combines performance and versatility.
Hornet family expansion: CB500 and NX500 join the 500 series
The models in Honda’s 500 family also receive updates, with the arrival of the CB500 Hornet and the update of the CBR500R. The CB500 Hornet features a new style inspired by its older siblings and meets the requirements of the A2 license, while the CBR500R is updated with new graphics, headlight and taillight, as well as a new 5-inch TFT screen with Honda RoadSync connectivity.
One of the most outstanding innovations is the Honda E-Clutch, which will make its debut on the renewed CB650R and CBR650R. This revolutionary technology eliminates the need to use the clutch lever to change gears, providing ultra-fast and precise changes, as well as a smooth ride without jerking. This automatic system offers a unique and exciting driving experience.
Super sports enhanced: CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and Fireblade SP
The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade super sports and its SP version receive improvements to the frame, bodywork, engine and gearbox to maximize mid-range performance. With 160 kW of power and 113 Nm of torque, the Fireblade offers an unparalleled sports driving experience. The SP version stands out for being the first to use the third-generation Öhlins Smart Electronic inverted fork and Brembo Stylema R four-piston brake calipers.
CRF1100L Africa Twin and Adventure Sports 2024
The CRF1100L Africa Twin and Adventure Sports adventure models also experience significant updates to their engine, transmission and functionalities, improving performance and comfort on and off-road.
The futuristic SC e: Concept, exhibited at EICMA, represents Honda’s commitment to the electrification of its two-wheeled range. Equipped with two Honda Mobile Power Pack e: swappable batteries, it offers compact, silent and emission-free urban mobility, anticipating the arrival of electric vehicles in 2025.
Tom Gardner, Senior Vice President of Honda Motor Europe, highlights the success of the new Hornet and Transalp in 2023, contributing to a 30% increase in sales. Gardner highlights the introduction of the CB1000 Hornet, the return of the CBR600RR and the innovative E-Clutch technology, as well as the presentation of the SC e: Concept as exciting steps towards the future of electric two-wheeled mobility. Honda continues to enrich its range and aims for another brilliant year in 2024.
